More Than a Bike Shop: Thunder Thursday at Cadence Cyclery Encinitas

Ride Bikes. Hang Out. Repeat.

There’s usually something happening at Cadence.

Group rides rolling out the door. Demo bikes getting dirty. Brand events. Coffee before a ride. Pizza and a cold beer afterward. Sometimes all of the above.

Most recently, we welcomed Team Best to Cadence for a special edition of their Thunder Thursday road ride, presented with support from PAS Normal Studios.

The recipe for the afternoon was pretty straightforward: ride bikes, ride them fast, come back to the shop, eat pizza and empanadas, have a beer, and hang out.

We’re into it.

Thunder Thursday Comes to Cadence

Team Best started in 2020 with a few friends getting together to ride and explore the roads around North County San Diego. Those rides continued to grow, eventually becoming Thunder Thursday—a reliably fast road ride that can bring together 20, 30, or more than 40 riders on a given week.

Thunder Thursday normally starts from Best Pizza in Cardiff, but for this edition, the starting line moved a few miles north to Cadence Cyclery Encinitas.

PAS Normal Studios came onboard to support the ride, everyone gathered at the shop, and then it was time to roll.

Ride hard. Hold the wheel. Regroup. Do it again.

Eventually, everyone made their way back to Cadence for the other half of the evening: pizza, beer, empanadas, and some time to hang out without worrying about the wheel in front of you.

There’s Always Something Going On

Thunder Thursday is just one example of what we want Cadence to be.

We love bikes, but the shop is also a place for the people who ride them.

Our monthly Thug Ride rolls from Cadence on the last Saturday of every month. Throughout the year, we host bike demos, brand events, special rides, product launches, and plenty of opportunities to meet other riders from around Encinitas and North County San Diego.

Some events are fast. Some are casual. Some involve the latest road, gravel, or mountain bikes. A surprising number involve coffee and pastries.

The common denominator is getting people together.

Supporting the North County Cycling Community

We’re fortunate to have some incredible roads, trails, riders, brands, and cycling groups right here in our backyard.

Events like Thunder Thursday give us a chance to bring those pieces together.

You don't necessarily need a race license, matching kit, or encyclopedic knowledge of bicycle components to be part of the cycling community. Sometimes you just need to show up and ride.

Whether you're looking for your next bike, want to demo something new, need a group to ride with, or just want to stop by and see what's happening, there’s usually a reason to swing through Cadence.

Follow Cadence Cyclery Encinitas on social media and keep an eye on our Events page for upcoming rides, demos, and shop events.

Or just stop by.

There’s probably something going on.
