Cadence Cyclery x PAS Normal Studios Midsummer 200K Ride
There are group rides, and then there are the days that remind you exactly why people fall in love with cycling in the first place.

This summer, Cadence Cyclery Encinitas teamed up with PAS Normal Studios to host a special 200K midsummer road ride through some of the best roads San Diego County has to offer. Riders rolled out from the shop in Encinitas and headed east for a full day on the bike; long miles, hard climbs, beautiful roads, and the kind of shared experience that stays with you long after the ride is over.

The goal of a day like this isn’t to tell people what kind of ride they should have. It’s to create the space for it to happen.
For some riders, that meant pushing the pace, riding off the front, and seeing just how deep they could go. For others, it meant taking on the longest ride they’ve ever done. For plenty of people, it was simply about showing up, riding with good people, and being part of something bigger than a normal day on the bike.
That’s what made this one special.

With support from PAS Normal Studios, the ride had all the right ingredients: a stacked route, great weather, well-timed aid stops, good conversation, and a few memorable touches along the way; including a mariachi band and margarita slushies that made one of the stops feel very far from ordinary. It was the kind of detail that turned a hard day into something people will talk about for a while.

One of the best parts of the day was hearing how different riders found their way into cycling, and why they continue to come back to it. For some, bikes became a second chapter after another sport. For others, cycling has become a source of friendship, challenge, rhythm, adventure, and community. That mix of stories and motivations is what gives rides like this their meaning.

At its core, this event reflected what Cadence Cyclery is all about; bringing people together through bikes and creating positive shared experiences. Not every rider had the same day, and that’s exactly how it should be. The beauty of a ride like this is that it leaves room for all of it; the effort, the suffering, the breakthroughs, the conversations, the laughs, the quiet miles, and the moments that make you want to come back and do it again.

By the end, there were riders fully cracked, riders somehow still sprinting after seven-plus hours, riders adding extra miles for the sake of it, and plenty of post-ride storytelling to go around. Pretty much exactly how a midsummer 200K should end.
Huge thank you to everyone who came out, everyone who helped support the day, and to PAS Normal Studios for helping make it happen.
If you missed this one, don’t overthink it.
Just show up for the next one.
