Meet the New Melee

The new ENVE Melee V2 has landed at Cadence Cyclery Encinitas.

The original Melee established ENVE as much more than a wheel and component manufacturer. It was a purpose-built performance road bike that brought ENVE’s experience with carbon, aerodynamics and ride quality together into a complete platform.

For the second generation, ENVE went back to work on the details.

The result is a Melee that’s lighter, more aerodynamic and more refined, while staying true to what made the original such a good all-around race bike.

Lighter. Faster. Still a Melee.

With the Melee V2, ENVE focused on improving both weight and aerodynamic efficiency rather than sacrificing one for the other.

The frame, fork and seatpost were redesigned together using ENVE’s Real-World Fast development philosophy. According to ENVE, those changes produce an 11.4-watt aerodynamic improvement from the frame, fork and seatpost alone. Additional gains are possible through ENVE’s updated aerodynamic cockpit and component ecosystem.

ENVE also significantly reduced frame weight. In a size 56, the Melee V2 frame in the minimal UL Black finish comes in at approximately 750 grams, helping make the new platform as serious about climbing as it is about carrying speed.

In other words, this isn't an aero bike that begrudgingly goes uphill or a lightweight bike that happens to be aerodynamic. ENVE developed the Melee V2 to be a modern road race bike capable of doing both.

Built Around the Rider

One of the things we like about the Melee platform is how much attention ENVE puts into fit.

The Melee V2 is available across seven frame sizes, with size-specific geometry designed to maintain the handling characteristics of the bike throughout the range. Component sizing can then be tailored around the rider rather than forcing everyone onto the same cockpit configuration.

That's especially relevant here at Cadence.

A high-performance road bike should start with the rider. With professional bike fitting available in-house, we can help determine the right frame size, position and component setup before putting together the rest of the bike.

One Seriously Good-Looking Road Bike

And then there’s the part you really don’t need a wind tunnel to appreciate.

The new Melee is clean.

Integrated lines, ENVE’s unmistakably modern frame shapes and a restrained finish give the bike a very purposeful look. The light-colored build pictured here looks particularly good against the deep ENVE carbon and SRAM RED drivetrain.

It’s understated from a distance. Get closer and there’s a lot going on.

Which is pretty fitting for the Melee itself.
